Troop 1 Parents Meeting Minutes

1) Meeting Called to order by Chair-(Steve Murphy) Extended appreciation to Chris Klaren for job well done as Troop 1 Committee Chair.

Treasurer – Dana Jensen - $631.00 deposited from popcan drives.

Advancement
coordinator
Advancement activities (Tom R) – No advancements. Several Scouts have earned and others are working on Citizenship in the Nation and Fishing merit badges.
Chaplain – Jim O’Connor volunteered to fill position.
Training coordinator – Youth Protection Training completed at last Scout meeting.
Equipment coordinator – Ken Graham – Trailer needs waxing. Needs new battery. Gas tank cover and canopy purchased.
Fundraising

Flapjackers pancake breakfast results (Al D) Overall sales were down, however Troop 1 sales were stable. Funds returned to Scouts = $1.60 per ticket.
Pop can collection fundraiser update Feb 26 & Apr 2 results (Steve D) - $631.00 raised. Funds to be used for Boundary Waters trip.
Pop can collection fundraiser June 4 (Steve D) – Plan monthly popcan collection drive the first Saturday of each month (10 months per year). Will rotate responsibility to each patrol. Funds to be split 50/50 between individual Scout’s account and troop account. Volunteers needed for June 4th, 2-hour shifts, 10 –12 and 12—2, 2 Adults and 3-4 Scouts per shift. Patrol Responsibility Schedules will be distributed at next Scout meeting..
Membership
coordinator
Charter renewal results (Chris K) – Charter process completed. 40 Scouts & 20 Adults registered. Troop 1 qualified as “Quality Troop”. Troop directory to be distributed at next meeting.
5) Old Business
Campout preparation & troop preparation (Al D, Steve M) – Discussed having patrols meet every other week to plan their meeting and camping activities. Troop meetings would then be held every other week during the weeks the patrols do not meet. Al will discuss this with the Scouts.
Boundary Waters update, June 18-25 (Steve M) – Planning sessions in progress. Canoeing orientation at Silver Lake to be scheduled. 26 Campers, 1 opening available.
Summer camp organization, July 10-16 (Steve B) – 19 Scouts registered, 2-3 Adults registered. More campers welcome. Cost is $175.00
6) New Business
New parent orientation meeting is May 15 at St. Ed’s Cafeteria, 7:15 p.m. (Jim O’Connor)

Next parents meeting Monday, June 6, 2005, Buck’s Broken Antler, Food available at 6:30, meeting starts at 7:00.
