Troop 1 Parents Meeting

1) Meeting Called to Order (Chris Klaren)

2) Parents Present:   Chris Klaren, Kirk Brownson, Steve Davis, Jim O’Connor, Faye Graham, Michelle Westphall

3) Minutes of September 12th meeting approved           

4) Reports:                

·        Scoutmaster - none

·        Secretary - none

·        Treasurer - none

·        Outdoor/activities coordinator

·        Troop Campout, Camp Courageous, Monticello, Sep 16-18 (Kirk B) Activities included Ropes Course, Cave Exploring, Wood Splitting. Service hours obtained for clearing camp border. Camp Courageous being considered for Red Flannel Campout.

·        Troop campout – Work weekend / electronics campout, Camp Ingawanis Sep30-Oct 2 (Al D) 11 Scouts, 4 Adults. Work project was cleaning fire site.

·        Fall Festival parking, Oct 9 (Steve M) Troop 1 will staff. Watch e-mails for information. 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Opportunity for service hours.

·        Pumpkin carving at American Martyrs Retreat House, Oct 9 (Steve M)

·        Advancement coordinator

·        Advancement activities (Tom R) New Star Scouts-Nick Davis, Nolan Graham

·        Merit Badge College update, Nov 5 (Chris K) 17 Scouts registered for 34 Merit badges. Awaiting confirmation of schedule. Oct 16-signup deadline.

·        New First Class requirement effective Jan 1, 2006 (Chris K) Scout required to invite someone to join Scouts.

·        Chaplain – Jim O’Connor – met with priests to arrange for Eucharistic Minister at campouts.  Chaplain Minutes well received at Scout meetings.

·        Training coordinator – Jim O’Connor - Parent Orientation well received. Future sessions will be scheduled as need arises. Plan to continue for parents of new scouts.

·        Equipment coordinator

·        Storage shed update (Steve D) – Awaiting final design plans. Goal is to present final plan to Building & Grounds Committee Jan. ’06.

·        Fundraising coordinator

·        Pop can collection fundraisers, Oct 8 (Steve D) – Ravens: 10:00 – 12:00, Wolverines: 12:00 – 2:00.

·        Wreath sales, Sep 25-Oct 31 (Lisa M)

·        Popcorn sales, Sep 24-Oct 28 (Chris K) – Sales sheets distributed, please return by Oct 30. Popcorn will be delivered Nov 12. Thanks to Kevin Murphy for assisting.

·        Membership coordinator – One new Scout joined Troop 1.

·        Next parents meeting Monday, November 7, 2005 at The Upper Deck, food available at 6:30, meeting starts at 7:00 PM
