Troop 1 Parents Meeting - Minutes

1) Meeting called to order (Steve Murphy)

2) Present: Al Degenhart, Steve Murphy, Chris Klaren, Dana Jensen, Steve Davis, Michelle Westphal

3) Minutes of Previous Meeting Approved

4) Reports:

· Scoutmaster – Campouts, meetings for troop planned through Feb06. Will participate in Klondike Derby. Kirk Brownson has volunteered to “detail” sled. Camp Courageous or Hickory Hills to be site of Red Flannel campout.

· Secretary - none

· Treasurer -none

· Outdoor/activities coordinator

· Fall Festival parking, Oct 9 (Steve M) Project went well. Plan to do next year.

· Pumpkin painting at retreat house, Oct 9 (Steve M) Good event. Ate lots of pie!

· Troop Campout, Nov 11-13 (Al) Camp Harry Woods, Clarksville. Leave St. Ed’s at 8:00a.m., Saturday.

· Summer camp 2006 (Al D.) Camp Phillips at Haugen, WI, July 2-8. High Adventure options available. Cost $185 per scout. $105 per adult.

· Advancement coordinator

· Advancement activities (Tom R) New Eagle Scout: Josh Musgrave, Bronze Palm: Gabe Drewelow, Star Scout: Drew Beyer

· Merit Badge College, Nov 5 (Chris K) 9 Adults, 17 Scouts, 26 Merit Badges earned

· Merit Badge University, UNI, Feb 18 (Al D.) Adults needed. 17 Scouts registered for 33 Merit Badges

· Chaplain

· Ad Altare Dei update, (Steve M) Will be completed by December

· Pope Pius XII update, (Steve M) Gladys Oppold conducting. 3 individuals registered.

· Training coordinator

· Equipment coordinator

· Storage shed update (Steve D) Plans to be reviewed at December parent meeting. Final plans to be presented to Buildings & Grounds Committee in Jan., -06.

· Fundraising coordinator

· Pop can collection fundraisers (Steve D) Oct 8 netted approx $250. Next drive Nov. 19. Dragons and JayHawks to staff. January 7, 2006: Wolverines & Ravens to staff.

· Wreath sales, Sep 25-Oct 31 (Lisa M) no report

· Popcorn sales, Sep 24-Oct 28 (Chris K) $2700 sold. Pick up Saturday, Nov 12, at Klaren’s. Money needs to be returned by Nov. 20.

· Membership coordinator

5) Old Business

· Adult leaders. Parents need to volunteer for positions and duties in Troop 1 for 2006. Adult positions will be reviewed at December Parents meeting, assignments made after the first of the year. Contact Steve Murphy or Chris Klaren.

6) New Business

· Trap house for Camp Ingawanis (Steve Murphy) – Tabled

· Eagle Court of Honor, Nov. 27, K.C. Hall, 1:00, Gabe Drewelow & Michael Berns. All Scouts to be there in Class AA dress uniforms.

· Adopt-A-Cabin (Al D.) Troop 1 will adopt Cedar View cabin for refurbishing project over next 3-4 years.

· Webelos II, Pack 25 thanks Troop 1 for use of camping trailer.

7) Announcements

· Next parents meeting Monday, December 5, 2005 at The Upper Deck, food available at 6:30, meeting starts at 7:00 PM
