Troop 1 Parents Meeting

1) Meeting called to order by

3) Approval of previous meeting minutes

4) Reports:

Scoutmaster
Al is back this month as Scoutmaster.
Many thanks to Dana for volunteering as interim Scoutmaster and for
doing a great job.
Eagle candidates are to present
their project ideas to the troop committee before getting approval from Dale
Jeffries or otherwise starting on them.
The presentations should be 5-10 minutes in length, and Scouts should
wear at least a class B uniform. The
committee should schedule no more than 2 presentations for a meeting.

The troop has approx. $1900 in the general fund, a little under $400 in the
Scoutmaster fund, about $1200 in the storage shed account. No report on the total of the Scout accounts.

Outdoor/activities
coordinator
·
Knights of Columbus Easter Egg Hunt, report the
event went well, had lots of help. We
need a new Easter Bunny as the incumbent has outgrown the costume.
·
Easter Vigil fire, report went well, will do next
year
·
Setting up church basement for Easter mass, report
went fine, basement looked OK.
·
Church Grounds Spring Cleanup, Apr 20, report 3
adults and 1 Scout helped out during the afternoon.

Spring Camporee, April 27-29,
·
Canoe trip, May 19 one day trip, checking into
canoeing on the
·
Boundary
Waters trip, June 16-23, update Expected cost is about $220 per person, to be
paid before leaving. The equipment list
from the 2002 trip will be posted on the web site.

Summer
Camp, July 8-14 17 Scouts registered, need more adults for 2+ deep leadership
though the week. Scouts need to complete
the Class 1 and 2 health forms, adults need a Class 3.
·
Eagle
Claw, Aug 4-12 an equipment list has been provided, participants need to
check with troop resources to see what may be available.

Advancement

Chaplain ethics and
morality will be subjects of upcoming activities

Storage
shed the shed is done (except for a few minor details), and well done at
that! Rain gutters are being considered,
at least for the east edge of the roof.
The remaining funds will be used to prepare a sign to show the donors
and hold an appreciation cookout.

Pop can
collection fundraiser, April 21 report, ext scheduled May 12 (Steve D)

Boundary
Waters pancake breakfast fundraiser, May 20 Scouts and adults need to sign up
at the next Scout meeting, proceeds will be used for fuel and other
transportation costs

Sturgis
Falls Adult Beverage Pour, June 23-24 the boundary waters trip returns June
23, will need high participation from those not on the canoe trip. The proceeds from this fundraiser go to the
Scoutmaster fund. Dana will organize the
sign-up.

Membership

troop rechartering has been completed, 35 Scouts, 21 adults are currently
registered with the troop.
5) Old
Business

Campout
attendance discussion it is getting better, as the older Scouts are trying to
fit it into their schedules

Board of
Review expectations update Scouts expected to demonstrate 5 core knots at
their Reviews and provide usage and history of them. Steve, Jon, and Chris will discuss this with
the Scouts at an upcoming meeting.

Wood
Badge training report no report
·
RAGBRAI
plans for Cycling merit badge recipients, July 26-28, update plans are
underway to determine camping sites in
·
High
adventure activities, update on Sea Base 2008 and Philmont 2009 Al will gauge
interest in Sea Base, and Chris has contacted the Council to determine if the
troop can have one of the two contingent troop weeks.

National
Jamboree, July 2010 Jim OConnor will provide updates
