·        Outdoor/activities coordinator

·        Troop campout, Adventureland, Aug 10-12.  A rip-roaring good time had by the 8 Scouts and 3 adults that attended.

·        St. Ed’s Fall Festival, Sep 16, update – Fall Festival is actually scheduled for Oct 14, a conflict with the October campout.  It is believed that we generally return from campouts in time to help with the parking.

·        Fall Camporee, George Wyth, Sep 28-30.  Lots of activities offered, should be a good time.  No planning information available.

·        Advancement coordinator

·        Advancement activities – 3 merit badges were earned since the last parents meeting.

·        Chaplain – Drew Klein has been named as the new Chaplain’s Aide.  Thank you to Collin Beyer for his great service in this position.

·        Training coordinator – no report

·        Equipment coordinator

·        Storage shed – Signage, appreciation cookout update.  The signage is believed to underway.  No other information available.

·        Fundraising coordinator

·        UAW Labor Day picnic UAW Labor Day picnic report.  Many compliments were received, and we have been invited back to help out next year.  The troop received the cans from the picnic in addition to the fees paid to the troop by the UAW.

·        Pop can collection fundraiser, Sep 8 report – This collection may set a new record.  58 bags of cans and 1700 bottles were processed (this includes cans collected from the UAW picnic).  A sorting table was set up for the Scouts that helped streamline the process significantly.

·        Popcorn sales – no report, Chris will inquire about details

·        Wreath sales – Arvella has the new price list, and it reflects about a 4% increase over last year.  Order blanks will be handed out on Oct 7 and the first orders need to be turned in Oct 21, for Nov 17 delivery.  A cash and carry sale is being planned for Nov 18 Sunday masses.

·        Membership coordinator – Recruitment – Jon Beyer and Mike Potter visited a Blessed Sacrament Cub pack meeting recently to promote Boy Scouting.  Reportedly Blessed Sacrament is considering starting a Boy Scout troop of their own, and if that does not happen, Jon and Mike communicated that they are welcome to join Troop 1.  Mike and Jon will be staffing an information booth at Sacred Heart on Sep 19 with the intent to form a Cub Scout Pack.  If there is not sufficient interest for a new pack, then Pack 25 and Troop 1 will be promoted as alternatives.  Great work guys!

5) Old Business

·        Merit Badge College, Nov 3, report – about 18 Scouts have registered.  Jon is getting information on merit badge book availability to get the Scouts started on the prework.

·        High adventure activities, update on Sea Base 2008 – no report.

·        High adventure activities, update on Philmont 2009 – Excellent response from the troop to-date, with 7 Scouts and 4 adults expressing interest.  Other eligible troop members still have an opportunity to participate.  The council should know the date of the trek in 6 weeks or so.

·        National Jamboree, July 2010 – about 6 Troop 1 Scouts have registered.  All others that plan to go should sign up now at the scout office so they can be assigned to the Sun Rivers district contingent troop.

6) New Business

·        Schedule for parents meetings – District Round Table is held the 2nd Thursday of each month.  It was suggested that our parents meetings be changed to the Monday following Round Table so that any news and information that needed to flow to the parents meeting would be more timely.  After some discussion, the group voted to recommend that the meetings be changed to the first Monday following Round Table.  A final vote on the matter will be held at the October 1 parents meeting.
