·         Secretary

·         Treasurer –  Total $7,976.61 (general fund $2,815.29, Scoutmaster Fund $655.10, Shed Account $1,285.64, Scout Accounts $3,220.58).  Jon Beyer and Tim Klein will make additional contacts with the St. Ed’s Booster Club regarding the  Booster Club’s $1000 pledge.

·         Outdoor/activities coordinator

·         Church basement Santa’s Workshop and Christmas mass setup, Dec 19, and reset on Dec 28.  Lots of help on both nights, work was completed quickly.  Church staff was very appreciative.

·         Troop sledding party & gift exchange, Dec 22.  Good turnout and everyone had a good time.

·         District Swim program – Jan 9–Mar 12, 2008.  Started last week with a very high attendance by Troop 1.

·         Red Flannel Campout, WSR, Jan 12-13.  Good turnout by the troop.  The first year Scouts also camped out, troop leadership should have some discussion as to whether first year scouts are ready for this experience.  Some suggestions included having a packing checklist for the scouts and having a preparation meeting in mid-week before the campout so everyone brings what is needed (at least one Scout did not have boots).  Also may want to incorporate camp setup instruction skills training during meetings after crossover in February.

·         Scout Sunday, Feb 3.  Troop will attend 9:00 AM mass with Pack 25, the troop will meet in the church basement beforehand at 8:30.  Jon Beyer is coordinating for the troop.

·         Sundown Ski trip, Feb 8-10.  Plans are still being made, this will likely be a one day event.  Suggestions were to possibly pack a lunch and snacks to reduce costs for the trip.

·         Advancement coordinator

·         Advancement activities – no report

·         Eagle Scout Orientation, Hammond Ave Brethren Church, Waterloo, Feb 7, 7:00 PM.  Star and Life Scouts planning to advance to Eagle in the next year must attend an Eagle orientation.  This is time well spent as it explains the process and time frame in making the advancement to Eagle.

·         Lakeland Merit Badge College, March 1.  Information will be presented at the next troop meeting and plans will be made if there is sufficient interest.  Registration is required by Feb 15.

·         Chaplain – activities are planned for the Chaplain’s Aid for upcoming meetings and campouts.

·         Training coordinator

·         Equipment coordinator

·         Storage shed – Signage, appreciation cookout in March – no update.

·         Fundraising coordinator

·         Pop can collection fundraiser – Jan 5 can drive was completed with good turnout, the next can collection will be held on Feb 16.

·         Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast fundraiser – April 20 will be requested for a fundraising date to help pay travel costs for summer camp.

·         Flapjackers pancake breakfast, Mar 8 – Waiting for tickets to distribute to the Scouts.  Intend to sell on Scout Sunday, and later at HyVee.

·         My Waterloo Days beverage pour – Dana will try to schedule a time the entire group of parents can work together during the May 31 to June 1 event.

·         Membership coordinator – Pack 25 will hold their crossover ceremony Sunday, Feb 10 (time not yet known).  (9) Webelo 2’s are expected to make the transition.  We will need Boy Scouts and leaders to attend and welcome them into the troop.  Francis will check with Blessed Sacrament to ascertain their Webelo 2’s plans.

·         Round Table Update

·         Klondike Derby will be held at WSR on Feb 2.  Interest will be determined at the next troop meeting.

·         Spring candy sales, Feb 4 to Mar 10 – the group elected not to have the troop sell candy this spring.  However, the council is offering 45% profit to Jamboree Scouts to help pay for their expenses.  A troop parent would be needed to coordinate these sales.

·         Ingawanis summer camp information is now available.  The troop is considering an out-of-council camp this year.

5) Old Business

·         High adventure activities, update on Sea Base 2009 – Tim Klein will request a crew reservation targeting a June sailing date to prevent overlap with Philmont.  21 people have expressed interest for the 20 person crew.

·         High adventure activities, update on Philmont 2009 – the date of the trek is July 22 to August 3 (not including travel days).  10 Scouts and 6 adults from the troop have expressed interest for the 12 person crew.  Registration information has been requested from the council.

·         National Jamboree, July 2010 – 132 Scouts have registered with the council.  Jim will bring a DVD from prior Jamborees to answer questions and develop interest.

6) New Business

·         Eagle Claw – Will be held Aug 7-16 this year.  Last year the troop originally offered to pay half of the registration cost for older Scouts as an incentive to stay actively involved.  The group discussed possibly also sending intermediate aged Scouts for the leadership training.  This will be discussed with Al at upcoming meetings.

·         Order of the Arrow – OA elections will be held in the next few weeks for eligible Scouts.  Spring Fellowship is scheduled for April 18-20, and this would be an opportunity for Ordeal members to advance to Brotherhood.  Contact Francis for more information.

7) Announcements

·         Next parents meeting Monday, February 18, 2008 at AJ’s Eatery & Spirits (by Target), meeting starts at 7:00 PM

·

8) Adjournment – with no further business to conduct, the meeting was adjourned.
