Troop 1 Parents Meeting

– February minutes approved.
4) Reports:

Scoutmaster – Scout leadership
elections were held since the last parents meeting. The troop has a new quartermaster, Nolan
Graham. Jeff Finley is working with the
instructors. The troop is in need of
additional leadership positions for advancement, and we will be doubling up on
various positions. With the 100th
anniversary of Scouting coming up, the troop should consider contacting all
Eagle Scouts from the troop for a celebration.

Treasury balance – $11,514.56 (General Fund $3560.67,
Scoutmaster Fund $1423.13, Scout Accounts $6530.66). There was discussion on what to do with the
Scoutmaster fund. It was noted that the
Boundary Waters helper Scouts would be funded with this fund, as well as any
Scouts that will be sent to Eagle Claw this summer. Al will make recommendations next month.

WSR
sledding campout, Feb 21-22. A
challenging campout with lessons learned and changes to be made on future
campouts. The older Scouts did a great job
of working with the new Scouts on their Scouting skills.

Training
for new adult leaders is scheduled as follows:

15-17, 2009 Outdoor Skills Instruction (OSI) –

Youth
protection training should be completed by all adults attending campouts and
Sea Base. This training can be completed
on-line in about 15 minutes and only needs to be done every 2 years.

communicate completed training to Chris Klaren so that troop records can be
kept up to date.

collection fundraiser, next scheduled for March 28

Flapjackers
Pancake Breakfast, Mar 7, report – the number of Scouts selling tickets for the
troop increased by 8 from last year.
Overall ticket sales are down, the group
discussed organizing sales at Crossroads and Logan Plaza HyVee’s
next year. Scouts will receive $1.10
profit for each ticket they sold, which will be credited to their Scout
accounts. Applications for campership funds are needed by May 1.

2009 Rechartering update – the group decided that the troop will
offer to pay for Boy’s Life subscriptions for those Scouts wanting to receive
it.

parent leadership for the troop & additional assistant Scoutmasters – Troop
Committee adult leadership has been determined for the next year. Thank you to those that stepped up to help
provide a great Scouting experience for our youth.

Boundary
Waters, summer 2009 – meeting for participants Sunday, March 29, 6:30 PM at St.
Ed’s cafeteria (Steve M)
·
High
adventure activities, update on Sea Base 2009 – All Sea Base fees have been
paid and are up to date. $205 airfare
for each participant is due before May 11.
Ground transportation and hotels are expected to cost about $100 per
person.

National
Jamboree, July 2010, update – no report
6) New Business
·
Order of
the Arrow – Scouts will have an opportunity to earn Brotherhood status with the
OA on April 18. Francis will communicate
information to eligible Scouts. OA
elections will be held later.
