Pop can
collection fundraiser. The July 11
fundraiser netted $395, and the Sep 12 event was very successful, collecting
over 60 bags and 2000 bottles. The troop
needs a new pop can czar to step in for Steve Davis in the very near
future. Many thanks to Steve as it was
his vision that created, grew, and sustained this great fundraiser for the
troop.
·
Council
fall popcorn sales. The troop is not
selling popcorn this year. However, many
of the Jamboree Scouts are selling through the Jamboree program to help finance
their trip.
·
UNI
concessions – Started last weekend. The
calendar is on the troop website, contact Francis to sign up. Great way to earn funds for summer camp,
jamboree, and high adventure activities.

5) Old
Business
·
Boundary
Waters, summer 2009. 8 Scouts and 12
adults attended, and reportedly had a great time. A request was made to have one of the
upcoming pop can drives used to raise funds for the Boundary Waters transportation
costs, as the KC pancake breakfast last year was used for Sea Base
transportation. The group discussed a
number of options from having the drive worked only by boundary waters
participants with a $480 cap, to providing a normal split among Scouts not
taking the trip and applying the balance to those that did. After considerable debate, it was decided not
to dedicate a popcan drive, and instead have each
participant pay their share of the transportation costs. Scouts wanting to earn their share can do so
by working a popcan drive and apply their earnings to
the trip. The reasoning for this is:
·
This
prevents putting all of the popcan burden on the 8
Scouts for the additional 12 adults that attended
·
Non-participants
will not be penalized by not being able to work a designated special collection
·
Campout
logistics – a calendar of campouts with locations is needed to get adult
commitment
·
