Troop 1 Parents Meeting

– October minutes approved
4) Reports:

Scoutmaster
·
Youth leadership training was help at the last
campout.
·
Will need help from parents and other adults with
changes planned for the troop on January 1.
·
Recommends that the troop provide all Scouts with
new handbooks, as rank advancement requirements change effective with the new
handbooks on January 1.
·
Positions and patrol patches will be provided to the
Scouts with the latest leadership and patrol reassignments.
·
Secretary – no report other

Treasurer
·
Treasury balance – $5,433.95 (General Fund
$701.18, Scoutmaster Fund $1,904.01, Scout Accounts $2,828.76).
·
Michelle will be stepping down as Treasurer no later
than Feb 1. Many “thank you’s” to Michelle for the great job in organizing troop
finances during her tenure. A search for
the new Treasurer will be underway shortly.

Outdoor/activities
coordinator

Trunk or Treat,
·
Haunted house visit, Oct 24. 10-12 Scouts and 3-4 adults attended. 2 haunted housed were visited, and everyone
had a good time.
·
Troop campout, electronics work weekend, youth
leader training, Ingawanis, Nov 14-15. A
great campout with 14 Scouts 6 adults.
The weekend’s service project was scattering mulch to designated areas. 10 Scouts were trained in Youth Leadership
skills. The group talked about the
upcoming changes and reviewed the troop organization chart. The Patrol Leaders Council will meet each
month on Sunday nights of campout weekends when troop meetings are not held.

Red Flannel campout, Dec 12-13. Planned to be held in Indian Meadows at
·
Welch Village Ski trip, Jan 29-31. A great weekend planned for the new
year. Van needs to know the number of
people attending by Nov 20 to determine the number of cabins to rent. 7 Scouts and 7 adults have replied so far,
with no replies yet from the older Scouts.

activities – 24 merit badge (includes

district merit badge college, Feb 20.
Tom & Publio are organizing, so far 7 Scouts and 2 adults have
registered. Adult training is guaranteed
to be held.

Review of
tents at Nov 2 troop meeting – 4 tents were set up at the Nov 2 meeting, not
really happy with any of them. Working
on some other contacts to keep looking.

Troop
trailer work date to repair shelves – work date set for Saturday after
Thanksgiving after the pop can drive.
Adults only, no Scouts due to power tools that will be in use. Work to be completed includes strengthening
some shelves, removing one set to make room for 3 patrol kitchens.

Fundraising

Pop can
collection, Oct 24 was reportedly a good effort, the next is scheduled Nov 28.
·
New pop
can coordinator needed – still needed to keep this effective fundraiser
underway.

Wreath
sales – sales forms have been turned in and the arrival date will be
communicated for pick-up and delivery.

UNI
concessions update – Nov 22 is the last currently scheduled weekend. Francis is working on scheduling dates after
the first of the year.

5) Old
Business
·
Troop
uniforms – centennial shoulder loops and green troop numerals. Tom and Jim are going through the troop
roster to determine how many the troop needs to purchase.

Campout
logistics, permission slips, etc. status – want to work into this in the new
year

Campsite
and activities list, update. PLC has
access to this as a resource. Please
continue to send your ideas to Jeff to further develop it.
·
National
Jamboree, July 2010, update – Scouts wanting to attend that are not yet
registered need to sign up on the wait list as openings do become available as
other Scouts drop out.
6) New Business
·
District
swim program – questions at the meting about whether it is being held this
year. Will need to check with the Scout
office.
