Scoutmaster
·
New Rank Advancement Requirements – The new Boy
Scout Handbooks, effective Jan 1, 2010, contain new advancement
requirements. A Scout may use the old
requirements if he started to work on the next rank before Jan 1, 2010. If he begins to work on a new rank on or
after Jan 1, then he must follow the new requirements.
·
New Scout Manuals – To accommodate the new
requirements, the Troop will provide a new 2010 handbook when a Scout receives
a new rank badge with a Board of Review date on or after Jan 1, 2010. The Scout’s new handbook can be purchased by
the Advancement Chair at the same time as their rank badge.

Secretary – no report other

·
Treasury balance – $6,698.67 (General Fund
$532.35, Scoutmaster Fund $1,904.01, Scout Accounts $4,262.31)
·
Tony Clasen has accepted the position of Troop Treasurer, and
will transition into the position as Michelle steps down early in the new year.

Outdoor/activities
coordinator
·
Red Flannel campout, Dec 12-13, report – the campout
was canceled due to the heavy snow that made the campsites inaccessible. The troop will begin its planning for the
alternate Red Flannel date of Jan 16-17.
·
Santa’s Helper set-up, St. Ed’s, Dec 13 – Lots of
Scouts and adults helped, finished in 35 minutes. Will need help taking it down and resetting
the church basement on Wed, Dec 16 at 5:30 PM.
·
Set-up for Christmas mass, teardown afterwards, date
& time TBD – information will be communicated when it is scheduled
·
Welch Village Ski trip, Jan 29-31 – cabins have been
reserved and planning continues

Advancement
coordinator
·
Advancement
activities – advancement records show that 9 merit badges were completed since
the last parents meeting.

Assistant
Advancement Coordinator – Ken Graham has accepted this position.

Wabuha
district merit badge college, Feb 20, update – registration currently under
way, contact Tom or Publio to register

Twin
Rivers merit badge college, Apr 10, adult coordinator needed
·
Chaplain

Training

B.S.A.
recently mandated training requirements for various troop adult leadership
positions. Information will be shared as
it becomes available.

Troop
trailer work day report, Nov 28 – shelving was removed to make room for the new
patrol kitchens. More work remains, and
it will be scheduled at a later time.

Fundraising
coordinator
·
Pop can
collection, Nov 28 report, next scheduled Jan 2 – the Nov fundraiser netted 28
bags and 750 bottles.

Search
for new pop can coordinator report – Van Blair will be transitioning in as the
new pop can chair, replacing Steve Davis who is electing to step down. Thank you Steve for your time and
perseverance in developing this lucrative fundraiser for the troop!

5) Old
Business
·
Troop
uniforms – centennial shoulder loops and green troop numerals, count to
purchase – we have a count of active Scouts and adults that will need the new
shoulder loops and troop numbers. They
will be purchased by the troop and distributed at an upcoming troop meeting.

New
Scout manuals – refer to comments in Scoutmaster Report
·
Campout
logistics, permission slips, etc. status – expect to see some progress in this
area starting in 2010.
·
National
Jamboree, July 2010, update – Jamboree Scouts please get up to date with your
payments. Anyone not currently
registered to attend should sign up on the waiting lists as some withdrawals
are typical.
6) New Business
·
Shriner pop can
tabs – A request has been made to collect pop can tabs from the pop can
collection and donate them to the Shriners for their
fund raising efforts. This will be
considered as a potential service project for the troop, with a decision to be
made at an upcoming parents meeting.

Next
parents meeting Monday, January, 18, 2010 at AJ’s Eatery & Spirits (by
Target), meeting starts at 7:30 PM.
